Nigeria, the most populated black nation on earth with an estimated population of over two hundred and one million, amidst her abundance of natural and human resources is also blessed with coastal areas.
These coastal areas like Lagos and Port Harcourt have for years served as point of entry and departure for ships conveying slaves and commodities.
With the ravaging unemployment in the nation, Ocean Ambassadors Foundation founded by Mrs. Violet Olaitan Williams has taken upon itself to tackle unemployment and save the Nigeria Economy by making the upcoming generation aware of the untapped career opportunities in the Blue Economy and how it can improve the nations GDP.
For over 5years, Ocean Ambassadors Foundation has been engaged in organizing School to Sea career talks, Quizzes, excursions to seaports and shipyards both in Nigeria and Ghana, in order to sensitize the secondary school population in Nigeria about the maritime blue economy.
Due to the pandemic, Ocean Ambassadors Foundation will be conducting the 1st virtual national quiz which is the first of its kind in Nigeria.
The quiz will hold on the 14th to 17th of September and it’s in Three stages;
First stage will feature all registered participants nationwide; winners will proceed to the regional level, which is the geopolitical zones.
The winners at each geopolitical zone will progress to the final stage which is the national level/grand finale of the quiz competition.
At the end of the competition, educational palliatives in form of certificates and prizes will be given to winners and participants in order to encourage and appreciate them for making an attempt to participate in the quiz.
